Background :
CD99 is a 32kDa transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the MIC2 gene, which participates in many cell functions such as cell adhesion and migration, endocytosis and exocytosis, and intracellular protein transport. CD99 is mainly expressed in bone marrow pre-B cells, neutrophils, monocytes, thymic cortical T lymphocytes, ovarian granulosa cells, ependymal cells of the central nervous system, and supporting testicular cells. CD99 plays a role in the late stage of leukocyte extravasation, helping leukocytes to overcome endothelial basement membrane. Due to selective cleavage, CD99 produces two isoforms with different carboxyl ends: CD99 type I (CD99wt) is a full-length form containing 185 amino acids, while CD99 type II (CD99sh) contains 161 amino acids. Their expression regulation is different, and may have opposite functions in different environments. CD99 is expressed in many types of tumor cells and is used in the differential diagnosis of Ewing’s sarcoma. Cellular location Cell membrane, cytoplasm

Antibodies are immunoglobulins secreted by effector lymphoid B cells into the bloodstream. Antibodies consist of two light peptide chains and two heavy peptide chains that are linked to each other by disulfide bonds to form a “Y” shaped structure. Both tips of the “Y” structure contain binding sites for a specific antigen. Antibodies are commonly used in medical research, pharmacological research, laboratory research, and health and epidemiological research. They play an important role in hot research areas such as targeted drug development, in vitro diagnostic assays, characterization of signaling pathways, detection of protein expression levels, and identification of candidate biomarkers.
