Background :
Retinol binding protein 4, also known as RBP4, is a transporter protein for retinol (vitamin A alcohol). It is mainly, though not exclusively, synthesized in the liver and circulates in the bloodstream bound to retinol in a complex with transthyretin. Retinol-binding protein that mediates retinol transport in blood plasma, and transfers the bound all-trans retinol to STRA6, that then facilitates retinol transport across the cell membrane. RBP4 has been a drug target for ophthalmology research due to its role in vision. RBP4 may also be involved in metabolic diseases as suggested by recent studies. Cellular location Secreted

Antibodies are immunoglobulins secreted by effector lymphoid B cells into the bloodstream. Antibodies consist of two light peptide chains and two heavy peptide chains that are linked to each other by disulfide bonds to form a “Y” shaped structure. Both tips of the “Y” structure contain binding sites for a specific antigen. Antibodies are commonly used in medical research, pharmacological research, laboratory research, and health and epidemiological research. They play an important role in hot research areas such as targeted drug development, in vitro diagnostic assays, characterization of signaling pathways, detection of protein expression levels, and identification of candidate biomarkers.
