Background: Bone Morphogenic Protein 10 is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily. In mouse heart, BMP-10 expression is localized to the trabeculated part of the common ventricular chamber and to the bulbus cordis region, the atrial wall and in the adult right atrium. BMP-10 has recently been implicated in postnatal cardiac hypertrophy.
